Product Manager, Geomagic Qualify
Location: Research Triangle Park, North Carolina
The Position:
The Product Manager for Geomagic Qualify reports to the Director of Product Management and plays a leading role in guiding the content of future releases. In setting direction for the product, the Product Manager will identify, document and prioritize requirements based on their understanding of customer workflows, the competitive environment, market trends and opportunities, technical advances and sound software design principles.
The Product Manager will work closely with the development team throughout the product life cycle, providing feedback on feature design, participating in bug reviews, and handling special customer requests.
A key champion of the product, the Product Manager is the primary product authority supporting the marketing team, sales team, customers and partners with product positioning and technical information. As the product's “evangelist”, the Product Manager will create and deliver presentations at conferences, in customer briefings, and to internal audiences.
The Product Manager must possess good “business instincts” and have the ability to identify and prioritize ways to grow the business. They will need to be able to construct business cases to justify investment, and be able to effectively “sell” their ideas to their management team and colleagues.
An ability to work at multiple levels is required (from basic product administration through to strategic planning), as is being able to handle several projects at once. The Product Manager must exhibit drive and enthusiasm, and be able to work with minimal supervision. They need to show initiative, maturity, attention to detail, a results orientation and willingness and ability to travel.
Responsibilities:
- Define and execute on short term and long term product strategies, providing high-level business justifications, positioning information and detailed guidance to the development team
- Acquire deep knowledge of customer needs and the competitive environment and use this knowledge to develop clear plans
- Apply sound analytical skills to evaluate alternatives and develop compelling recommendations
- Clearly communicate in a variety of situations, delivering presentations, internal documents and external documents such as white papers
- Project a professional and credible image as an expert on both products and markets
- Work effectively as both a team leader and a team player
Experience:
- 3 to 5 years software product management experience is required (engineering software experience preferred)
- B.S. Mechanical Engineering, B.S. Computer Science or other relevant technical degree
- Familiarity with the 3D software market, CAD/CAE/CAM, metrology and inspection is highly desirable
