Ping Fu

Ping Fu

Ping Fu is Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Geomagic. She co-founded Geomagic and has led its growth from a start-up to be the worldwide leader in digital shape sampling and processing (DSSP) industry. Geomagic has attracted more than $8 million in capital from private and institutional investors, and won millions of dollars in research innovation grants from NSF and NIST.

Before starting Geomagic, Ms. Fu was Director of Visualization at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications, where she initiated and managed the NCSA Mosaic software project that led to Netscape and Internet Explorer. She has more than 20 years of software industry experience in database, networking, geometry processing, and computer graphics. Ms. Fu is a respected thought leader and frequent keynote speaker at international conferences.

Ms. Fu has received numerous awards for her management achievements, including the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year for the Carolinas, worldwide "Fast 50" executive by Fast Company magazine, Entrebizneur of the Year by Business Leader magazine, and Triangle Business Journal's Women in Business, Class of 2005. In 2005, she was named Entrepreneur of the Year by Inc. magazine, the leading publication for American entrepreneurs. She holds graduate and post-graduate degrees in computer science and Chinese literature, and is an adjunct professor at Duke University.

Steven Carnevale

Steven Carnevale

Steve Carnevale, Chief Financial Officer, came to Geomagic with more than 20 years of experience in financial management, business analysis, strategic planning and operational controls. Before joining the company, he was a CFO Partner in the executive services firm Tatum LLC, where he provided financial leadership helping companies in transition accelerate business success and create more value. Before Tatum LLC, Mr. Carnevale was CFO for venture backed technology companies including Silicon Semiconductor Corporation and Home Director, an IBM spin-off. His responsibilities included growing and structuring the financial operations and legal support teams as well as securing venture capital and M&A activities. Mr. Carnevale has also held management positions at Eastman Kodak/Qualex and started his career in public accounting at Ernst & Young. He earned an MBA from the University of North Carolina's Kenan-Flagler Business School and a BS in Business Administration from Northeastern University.

Jim Johnson

Jim Johnson

Jim Johnson, Vice President of Worldwide Sales, came to Geomagic with more than 25 years of experience in sales leadership. He was most recently vice president of regional sales for Vivant Corp., a supplier of automated e-procurement solutions. For seven years, he was senior director of the central region for Autodesk, the world's leading CAD/CAM software company. At Autodesk, he worked with a staff of 40 and an extensive reseller channel to generate revenue growth of 300 percent in that region. Before Autodesk, he held sales management positions in engineering technology companies such as SDRC, Context Corp., Adage and Tektronix. He has consistently been a leading producer since he entered sales management in 1977. In his position with Geomagic, he will set sales plans and goals, manage the worldwide sales team, recruit and develop channel sales, and develop business relationships with major accounts and other technology companies in the forefront of mass customization. Mr. Johnson graduated from Michigan State University with a BS in Mathematics and did post-graduate studies at George Washington University and University of Southern California extensions.

Peter Scott

Peter Scott

Peter Scott, Vice President of Engineering, came to Geomagic with extensive experience in 3D systems. His work in 3D visualization and simulation, interactive products and real-time applications has been highly regarded; in 1990 he was the first to receive Raytheon's prestigious Cost Savings Suggestions award for software development. His research in neural networks has been presented at the IASTED International Conference on Expert Systems and Neural Networks. After several years at Raytheon Corporation writing software and creating algorithms for laser and weather radar systems, he moved on to other software engineering positions including three years at Virtus Corporation in Cary, NC, where he was the lead technical engineer on a very successful venture capital fundraising project. At Geomagic he manages the development staff and large, partnership projects while ensuring the on-time delivery of software products and services. Mr. Scott received his MS and BS degrees in Computer Science from Union College in Schenectady, NY.

Cathy Hofknecht

Cathy Hofknecht

Cathy Hofknecht, Vice President of Marketing brings with her extensive technology marketing experience in the field of digital imaging. She began her career as a software programmer, then moved into high-tech sales and later transitioned to and remained in marketing. Over the past 13 years, Ms. Hofknecht has taken on the roles of marketing communications manager, product marketing manager, director of business development, VP of corporate marketing and senior strategist at X-Rite, a global leader in color management software and instruments for the digital imaging, textiles, plastics and automotive markets. At X-Rite, she helped the company successfully launch numerous products into the publishing, design and digital photography markets. Prior to that, she was responsible for product marketing and marketing communications for Agfa’s line of computer graphic film recorders.  Ms. Hofknecht graduated from Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh, NY with a BA in Mathematics.

Stacey Mangum

Stacey Mangum

Stacey Mangum, Vice President of Human Resources, has 20 years of experience in implementing company policies that enhance and reinforce an organization's vision, mission and core values. Throughout her career, Ms. Mangum has created the human resources infrastructure needed to support fast-growing companies. Before joining Geomagic, she developed performance management programs at Arsenal Digital Worldwide Services that helped generate a 60-70 percent increase in annual revenue per full-time employee. At LIPsinc, she built the human resources department from the ground up, including design and implementation of HR processes and procedures. Before that, she led human resources at Engineous Software, where she increased headcount by 1,000 percent in two years. Ms. Mangum earned a BS in Business Administration from North Carolina Wesleyan College. She is certified with the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM) and holds a Human Resource Management Certificate from Duke University.
