Perceptron Partners with Geomagic to Provide Complete 3D Scanning Solution
PLYMOUTH, Mich., September 25, 2001-- Geomagic announced today that it has signed an OEM reseller agreement with Perceptron Inc., a leader in real-time data collection, analysis, measurement and control software technologies.
Under the agreement, Perception will offer Geomagic Studio software with its 3D scanners, providing an end-to-end solution for 3D scanning and modeling applications such as reverse engineering, industrial design, rapid inspection and custom manufacturing. Geomagic also plans to license Perceptron's ScanWorks Toolkit and integrate it with Geomagic Qualify, the company's rapid inspection software.
Geomagic's 3D photography software takes captured data from a Perceptron scanner and automatically converts it into accurate digital models. The process simplifies and speeds the ability to create individualized parts or products on a massive scale. Medical device manufacturers are already using 3D photography for mass customization of patient-specific products.
The agreement with Perceptron is another major piece in Geomagic's strategy to spread 3D photography applications in business and industry, according to Ping Fu, president and CEO of Geomagic.
