Geomagic, Genex Technologies to Provide 3D Photography Solutions for Mass Customization
KENSINGTON, Md., March 04, 2002- Genex Technologies and Geomagic have signed a development and reseller agreement that will bring integrated 3D photography solutions to medical device manufacturers and other industries that can benefit from mass customization.
Under the agreement, Genex becomes a licensed reseller of the entire Geomagic software line. Geomagic will integrate Genex's Rainbow scanner and drivers into its Geomagic Capture software, and Genex will offer a customized version of Geomagic Capture with its Genex Rainbow cameras.
The agreement allows customers to go to one source for digital 3D scanning and modeling solutions. The companies will also jointly develop customized integrated solutions for customers with special requirements.
Geomagic software enables 3D photography, the process of automating capture, processing and production of 3D models. The 3D photography process allows manufacturers to differentiate their products through mass customization.
As the manufacturer of the Rainbow 3D non-contact light-based digitizer, Genex Technologies will play a key role in spreading 3D photography applications in biofit, medical device and other industries, according to Ping Fu, president and CEO of Geomagic. "Combining Genex's high-speed, low-cost digitizer with Geomagic software's 3D photography capabilities delivers the simplicity, speed and cost effectiveness that manufacturers need to implement mass customization processes," says Fu.
