Geomagic, Open Technologies s.r.l. to Provide New Integrated 3D Technologies

Agreement provides one-stop shopping for 3D photography applications

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., March 11, 2002- Geomagic and Open Technologies s.r.l. (Brescia, Italy) have signed an OEM agreement to provide new integrated 3D technologies to scanning customers worldwide.

Under the agreement, Geomagic will support Open Technologies scanner drivers in its Geomagic Studio software, and Open Technologies will bundle Geomagic software with its 3D scanners. The agreement allows customers to go to one source for digital 3D scanning and modeling solutions.

Geomagic's software enables 3D photography, which fully automates the capture, processing and production of 3D models. 3D photography is the driving force behind such processes as digital manufacturing, mass customization, computer-aided inspection, and 3D graphics for archiving and marketing.

"We are pleased to form a close business relationship with Open Technologies," says Ping Fu, president and CEO of Geomagic. "We are impressed by their advanced scanning system and by their people, who share our vision and enthusiasm. Customers will now have one-stop shopping for a complete 3D photography solution, from scanning to automatic generation of accurate digital models, or to verify a built part against a digital master."

"Geomagic is the industry leader in providing software solutions that make scan data valuable in manufacturing processes such as reverse engineering and quality inspection," says Matteo Manerba, sales and quality assurance manager of Open Technologies s.r.l. "Open Technologies scanners equipped with Geomagic software give our customers fully integrated systems with reliable performance."

Geomagic (www.geomagic.com) provides 3D photography solutions for digital manufacturing, mass customization and quality assurance. In addition to its flagship products, Geomagic Studio and Geomagic Qualify, Geomagic offers customized software for vertical markets such as hearing instruments and dental devices. Manufacturers worldwide - including Toyota, Harley-Davidson, Fisher-Price, Align and many others - turn to Geomagic to provide the technology for customizing products, automating processes, and increasing throughput.

Open Technologies s.r.l. was formed based on technology developed by the engineering research laboratories at the University of Brescia in Italy. The company's 3Dshape optic survey system allows users to acquire data from a physical object without any direct contact. In addition to developing high-definition sensors and quality control systems, the company provides specialized personnel for data acquisition and application consulting.
