Ping Fu of Geomagic selected as leading businesswoman in N.C.’s Triangle
RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C., August 4, 2005 – Ping Fu, president and CEO of Geomagic, has received the Triangle Business Journal’s Women in Business award for 2005. The award, to be presented today at a luncheon in Research Triangle Park, N.C., honors business accomplishments and contributions to the community.
Fu co-founded Geomagic in 1996. The company’s products enable designers and engineers to transform scan data from physical objects into highly accurate digital models for applications ranging from computer simulations of racing cars, to reconstruction of historic treasures, to new processes that speed quality inspection.
Over the past year, Geomagic increased product sales by 49 percent, boosted profits tenfold over the previous year, doubled its number of employees, and established an international presence by acquiring a European technology company and creating subsidiaries in Germany and Asia.
In addition to running a successful international company, Fu finds time for family and community. She speaks to entrepreneurs and women in business locally and internationally. She donates time, money and other resources to local museums, schools and the Council for Entrepreneurial Development, a professional organization in the greater Research Triangle area.
“This is an honor that I share with my family and everyone at Geomagic,” says Fu. “I’m fortunate to be associated with brilliant and dedicated people who make all things possible.”
