About Geomagic Decimate
Decimate, first unveiled at SIGGRAPH '98, is a revolutionary tool designed to improve the rendering speed of any 3D model by drastically reducing the number of polygons in the surface. Unlike other solutions, Decimate can minimize the number of polygons without losing the original topology of the model. During the decimation process, this software also can improve the quality of the surface mesh while simultaneously preserving surface curvature and proximity to the original surface. This program is a revolutionary enabling technology for 3D game design, real-time animation development, VRML Web design, and other graphics and multimedia applications.
The flexibility and simplicity of Decimate's selective polygon reduction feature is unsurpassed. The user has complete control. Select regions on a model to preserve detail or to reduce complexity. The interactive decimation tool allows users to simply press a button to watch the polygons disappear in real time. Now models can be reduced down to a fraction of their original size, while surface contours are kept true to the original. Decimate sets a new standard in 3D compression.
About Geomagic, Inc.
Geomagic, Inc. is a software company dedicated to providing the most technologically advanced and cost-effective solutions for geometric modeling of 3D objects. The company is founded by the world's foremost experts and eminent software designers in the field of computational geometry and topology.
Geomagic's flagship product is Geomagic Wrap. This revolutionary software automatically converts point cloud data into highly accurate 3D computer models and enables complex operations to be performed with a single mouse click. Geomagic Decimate, Raindrop's newest software product, is a stand-alone polygon reduction tool (also available as a plug-in to 3D Studio Max). Geomagic also provides several value-added services to customers: express model service, technical consulting, and customized software development.
Today, Geomagic's technology is having an impact on a wide range of industries and applications in markets including computer graphics, game development, art reproduction, consumer product development, rapid prototyping, reverse engineering, grid generation, medical imaging, computerized dentistry, and high-end customized consumer products.
Geomagic expects its future technology and product development to revolutionize the way people work with 3D shapes.
Note: Geomagic Decimate is the same product that priviously named Geomagic Decimator.
